An EJ Radiation advantage is that we were the first group in the New Orleans area to get a machine known as the Sensus SRT, which is specifically designed to treat skin cancer. This machine allows our physicians to prescribe radiation that is literally only skin deep — it penetrates only a matter of millimeters rather than centimeters. This allows increased precision and control, particularly when treating lesions over sensitive areas such as the face, neck, hands, or the legs below the knee. This is another specific way in which we have developed expertise and invested in technology to give our patients the edge.
Our physicians work closely with many local dermatologists, and would be happy to provide a consultation to discuss possible radiation approaches for a variety of skin cancers. Often, we are called upon to treat skin cancers with radiation when surgery is not safe or is undesirable due to the location of the lesion. We also treat a number of skin lymphomas including mycosis fungoides, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL), cutaneous B-cell lymphoma (CBCL), and skin manifestations of systemic lymphomas.
