Many cancers have a hereditary or genetic component in which a predisposition toward cancer can be passed down through a patient’s DNA. Understanding these genetic components allows patients to tailor their screening and treatment to their individual cancer risk. This may allow the cancer to be detected early, possibly giving the patient a superior result. In other situations, the patient may even prevent the cancer by taking steps that can reduce their risk of a cancer. At EJ Radiation, we incorporate genetic testing into our treatment of many types of cancers — including but not limited to breast, colorectal, endometrial, and prostate cancer. Patients who are interested in learning more about this may request an appointment with one of our physicians.
